When they stopped the gender test for all in the early 90's someone said that it was a mistake as one day ,in the full glare of publicy, one would be needed and someones life ruined.

What on earth is the WADa lab leaking results from her tests and how on earth did they know whos sample it was ?And why am I the only to make this point about core breach of WADA Code !

I had forgotten about the Shireen Bailey episode at the World Cup in 1983, and I was unaware that gender certificates have ceased to be required since around 1991.
It will be interesting to see if Caster Semenya races on the what remains of the IAAF Grand Prix circuit. Judging by the way she was ignored by the seven other women in that Berlin final, I suspect that she will not be a popular presence there, even if she breaks Kratochvilova's now ancient world record for the two laps.
The revelation that Semenya has three times the average amount of testosterone in her system for a female must surely disqualify her from further races as a woman on the world stage ....or am I being naive here?
Semenya is now considered to be fair game and excellent fodder for all the Saturday night TV cabaret comedians.
This is especially sad since it detracts attention away from a great world championships in Berlin featuring Usain Bolt's fantastic sprint records which should have been the centre of attention.
The whole sad episode should never have been allowed to get this far, but it is difficult to see what the IAAF could have done - even with the benefit of hindsight.

Finally, someone talking some sense about this very sensitive subject. Let's not forget that, if she is anything, Semenya is an unfortunate victim, not a criminal. - James O'Brien
